Shipbuilding
Shipbuilding is station-scale manufacturing that consumes a known hull schematic and local material inputs through Shipyard service, then produces a packaged bare hull as a physical station-storage asset.
Hull production uses the same persistent station-job model as other industry.
The Shipyard consumes required resources from local station storage, charges its facility fee, occupies Shipyard allocation while active, and leaves the completed packaged hull waiting at the production station until you return and claim it.
A manufactured hull is not a menu unlock.
The produced object contains a real bare ShipState with its hull identity, ownership history, full structural baseline, no installed fittings, no Crew, and no cargo. It is naming-eligible and physically packaged at its hull's authored packaged mass. You can haul it to another station and Commission it there, or commission it where it was built and begin fitting it.
Hull production does not currently roll component-style craftsmanship stats.
Manufactured equipment can vary by craftsmanship on authored characteristics. The current hull-production path instead creates the authored bare hull baseline. Manufacturing work still contributes Captain Manufacturing progression and hull-design engineering knowledge, but the hull itself does not currently receive equipment-style random stat modifiers.
